Mary Lou Hathorn

Mary Lou grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio, before attending her first of four colleges at Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, Connecticut. After her time in New Haven, she lived in Berkeley, California; Washington, D.C.; and eventually settled in Hanover, New Hampshire, where she has resided for the past fifty years.

While in Hanover, Mary Lou graduated from Dartmouth College, where she also met her husband, George, who preceded her as a member of the Oliverian School Board. Together, they built a blended family of five children and now enjoy a large and growing extended family that includes many grandchildren.

In addition to raising her family, Mary Lou has been deeply involved in the Upper Valley community. She volunteered with numerous charitable organizations, owned and administered a residential care facility for the elderly, and later worked as a real estate agent until her retirement.

Mary Lou’s connection to Oliverian School began through her husband’s service on the board. Through attending events and gatherings, she had the opportunity to meet fellow board members as well as faculty and staff. These experiences gave her a deep appreciation for the dedication, passion, and compassion that define the Oliverian community. Inspired by the school’s nurturing and inclusive environment, she is honored to now be part of the Oliverian family.
