About Oli > Our People > Stefani Zind
Counselor
Stefani Zind’s path to Oliverian began in the field of International Studies. After graduating with a bachelors from Colorado State University in Fort Collins. She would spend the next seven years in her home state of Utah working with vulnerable youth in the Salt Lake Community. During that time, Stefani helped develop a youth mentoring program at a local nonprofit serving youth from diverse backgrounds. The strength and resiliency of these youth helped shape her decision to pursue a career in social work. After graduating with her Masters in Social Work from Utah State University, Stefani and her family moved east to Vermont. While living in the state where her husband grew up, she worked as a clinician for children in community mental health.
A consistent thread through this journey has been Stefani’s passion for working with adolescents. She believes healthy and supportive connections are essential for meaningful recovery and growth. Part of what drew Stefani to the Oliverian School is the unique opportunity to truly meet these youth where they are and walk alongside them in different spheres of their lives. Stefani also brings her zest for life and joy for learning to Oliverian School. She is passionate about not only sharing her knowledge, but also learning what young people have to offer and shining a spotlight on it.
1. What do you love most about Oliverian?
I love that Oliverian school provides space for staff to be a part of the youth’s community and create meaningful connections in multiple areas of their lives.I am excited to join the Oliverian School due to the community it provides its students and its emphasis on connection, self-exploration, learning, and individuality.
2. What motivates you to work with kids?
It’s incredibly fulfilling to be able to work alongside teens as they explore their individuality and prepare to transition into adulthood. There is so much growth and self-exploration during that stage. I appreciate the authenticity and candidness that comes with this period of exploration, even if it is an observation directed at me and my shoes!
