After seven years as Oliverian’s head of school, Will Laughlin will be stepping down on June 30, 2021 to pursue other opportunities. Will will be succeeded as interim head of school by Oliverian’s longtime academic director, Abby Hood.
“As sad as I am to leave, I am thrilled for the school and for Abby,” says Will. “Abby is a gifted educator and compassionate leader who has served the Oliverian community for more than fifteen years. Most importantly, she embodies the school’s familial ethos better than anyone I know. She will be great for the school.”
Speaking for the Board of Trustees, Chair Peter Stevens and Founding Board Chair Jeanne Townsend add: “We are grateful for the excellent work Will has done to stabilize and improve the school and secure its future. We thank Will for his service to Oliverian and we wish him, Beth, and Colton all success in their next venture together. Equally, we are thrilled to welcome Abby into her new role; it is wonderful when an independent school has the depth of talent necessary to recruit talented leadership from its own ranks.”
Will plans to spend the balance of his tenure focused on helping Abby transition smoothly into her new role.
“I am humbled and honored by this opportunity to serve as the next head of a school I love so much,” said Abby.
