Social & Life Skills Support

True growth happens in connection. At Oliverian, we nurture life skills and relationships through real-world experiences and compassionate guidance, empowering students to navigate life with confidence and heart.

Life Skills

Our live-in dorm parents are full-time educators whose primary responsibility is to teach, coach, mentor and support students in the development of independent living skills. Our dorm curriculum covers topics as wide-ranging as time management, household chores, conflict resolution, and leadership skills. Whether they are teaching students how to do laundry or how to support a peer in need, our dorm parents are committed to helping every student in their care to build competence, confidence, and independence.

Caring Guidance

Our exceptional faculty to student ratio and our focus on community mean that students are surrounded by a network of caring adults. Most of our faculty live on campus and are involved in the life of the school on evenings and weekends, not just during typical working hours. Teachers, counselors, and administrators are sharing meals, leading activities, making art and music, playing games, and taking trips with students. Through shared experiences of both joy and challenge, relationships deepen and students become more open and ready for growth and learning.

Individualized Approach

Oliverian values student individuality and autonomy and recognizes that no two students’ needs are exactly alike. Students receive support and guidance when and where they need it, and flexibility and independence when they are ready for it. This responsive and personalized approach allows us to meet students where they are and challenge them to grow, while also allowing them to identify their own goals, advocate for their own needs, learn from their own mistakes, and celebrate their own accomplishments.
