Unlocking Adventure and Creativity: Inside Oliverian’s Electives Week!
October 18, 2024
At Oliverian, we know that learning doesn’t just happen inside the classroom—it happens when you get out there, get your hands dirty, and try something new. That’s what Electives Week is all about!
For one week, we pause the usual schedule and let students dive into courses they’re excited about. Whether it’s rock climbing with Calvin and Nico, paddling rivers with Kate and Joshua, or designing cosplay costumes with Kristina, Electives Week is where passion and learning collide.
Why Do We Do It?
Real-World Learning Classes like Moose Bow Hydrology Adventure or Spooky New England take students outside and let them experience learning in the real world. These hands-on adventures teach skills that go beyond textbooks and stay with them far beyond school.
Student Choice Matters This week empowers students to explore what interests them. Want to start a rock band with Oscar or refine your French with Steffy and Jorge? It’s all about following passions and discovering new ones.
Building Confidence Whether writing college essays or performing magic tricks, students face challenges that build independence and self-confidence. Electives Week is about stepping out of comfort zones, trying something new, and realizing their potential.
A Week That Brings Us Together This week also fosters connection—students and teachers learning side by side, exploring, and having a blast. Whether you’re painting in the White Mountains with Becs or uncovering art forgeries with Julie, Electives Week showcases the best of our Oli community.
At Oliverian, we believe in learning without limits, and Electives Week showcases how fun and inspiring education can be!
