School Nurse
I started at the School Nurse at Oliverian in February of 2024. I graduated from nursing school 7 years ago with my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Stephen F. Austin State University in Texas and then became a registered nurse shortly after. I am slowly working on a dual Masters degree- an MBA and MSN. During my career I spent some time as a school nurse and worked with high school age students during summer sessions which became some of my favorite times. Most recently, I have been working as a hospice nurse for the last few years.
I am originally from Texas, but when I became a travel nurse for hospice I travelled and did a contract in Vermont and New Hampshire. After returning to Texas for a short time after my contract, my husband and I decided to make the move permanently and we have settled in Vermont. We love the area and the beauty that is here. During my free time I enjoy reading, painting and various other crafts including embroidery. I love to spend time with my husband when he is home as well as with my pets- a Great Dane, 3 Guinea pigs, and a bearded dragon. I was drawn to Oliverian because I feel like the environment and setting will make a difference in the lives of others.
What do you love most about Oliverian?
I think the thing I love the most is the interdisciplinary and holistic approach to each and every student to provide support and a sense of community. Every person I meet on this team is truly focused on the success of others. I find myself lucky to have been chosen to be a part of this community and to be able to offer my support as well.
What motivates you to work with kids?
I often remember how much I personally did not enjoy being a teenager. I was fortunate to have faculty at my school that had an extremely positive influence on my life during those years. As a nurse, helping others is always on the forefront of my mind, but for me working with kids is more than that- it is inspiring. I know that my personal experiences drive me to always be a person that positively impacts others around me.
