Math Teacher
Michael Christian, mathematics teacher, joins us from Texas with the goal of making math understandable and, hopefully, even enjoyable for our students. In addition to an earned BS in Computer Engineering from the University of Houston, Michael has also spent years as a magician, performer, and manager in the service and hospitality industries. This diverse experience along with an encouraging disposition brings together a unique blend of creativity and problem-solving skills to the classroom. He is committed to meeting students where they are and guiding them patiently as they build their skills and confidence. Michael is passionate about creating, maintaining a supportive learning environment where each student feels valued and encouraged to do their best.
What Motivates You to Work with Kids?
I am deeply motivated by the opportunity to challenge growth and inspire belief among those who are growing into themselves, even when they may not believe in themselves…yet. Having navigated my own whirlwinds and journey through high school, I understand the importance of communication and connection within a community. My passion for emotional intelligence, which I have studied for several years, drives me to foster these connections. I am committed to doing my best while simplifying complex concepts, making them accessible to students through systematic and engaging methods.
What Do You Love Most About the Oliverian?
What I love most about Oliverian is its vibrant community, where everyone is encouraged to explore their unique gifts and share them with others. I believe that being part of a supportive environment is essential for personal growth and self-discovery. The school’s beautiful surroundings and programs invite us to embrace both our inner nature and the world around us. At Oliverian, I feel a strong sense of belonging and fully embrace our shared commitment to grow and learn together.
